SIGRID DE MONTROND
Her work in Venice focuses on giving new life to ancient and forgotten pieces of Murano glass, transforming chandeliers and other artifacts into unique works of art. With a costume designer’s eye and an “intuitive gallery” approach, Sigrid de Montrond rediscovers discarded glass fragments in the warehouses of Murano glass masters and reassembles them with precision and creativity, creating new lamps, candelabras, and jewelry.
Atelier Visconti, her art gallery, is located in Paris, but its beating heart also beats in Venice, in the magnificent Palazzo Bragadin, a 15th-century residence. Purchased in 2003, the palazzo has been meticulously restored by Sigrid and her husband, architect Xavier de Montrond. Together, they form a dynamic duo who have successfully restored the magnificence of this historic building, which now also houses the Venetian headquarters of Atelier Visconti and various artistic events.
