Introduction
“Barbara Pigazzi portrays the reflection of the soul. A detail of the heart. A face that suddenly appears in the darkness. The black and white of the artist from Piove di Sacco is the definitive one. An emotion that pervades the mind of those who are captured by his gaze who knows how to see beyond the appearance of things. Pigazzi took part for the second time in Mia (Milano Image Art Fair) in Milan. For the 11th edition of the most important national and international photography fair, he brought an independent project “Animica”, curated by Angela Madesani, professor of History of Photography at the Ied (European Institute of Design) in Milan and art historian with collaborations with the Brera Academy. Meeting Barbara Pigazzi means entering her world, silent, pervaded by an absolutely personal and discreet spirituality.”
Introspection, silence, light seem to be the language of this path
“I am for all intents and purposes. The images collect the personal relationship with nature. I also presented a portfolio of seven images printed on fine art that can have an international outlet for art photography. After all, things are moving in a direction that we often cannot control.”
Barbara Pigazzi’s sensitivity is so subtle that it borders on mediumship. Her images evoke distant and metaphysical aspects that recall an esoteric symbolism
“What happened in my stand at Mia is truly incredible, but it highlights once again that the path I have taken is the right one. One Sunday a ray of sunshine entered my stand which illuminated the ‘Divine haze’, a work which for me has a mystical meaning.”
A coincidence or as Jung would say a synchronicity
“This light allowed the people who visited the exhibition to feel how deep my love for art was, and how much they became part of that Lagoon that I had immortalized in my shots. They were able to measure, with emotion, how attached I was to those places where I grew up.”
The symbols, the perfect and rarefied black and white, the care in the printing reveal the great conceptual and physical work that exists behind Barbara Pigazzi’s shots
“There are those who have gone even further. A Brazilian lady recognized a photograph of mine in which I had placed white chrysanthemums on the lagoon pier, a Brazilian ritual of the goddess of the sea. Unconsciously things emerge because they are in our imagination, in the most hidden part that reveals itself to us. Those white flowers shine with a particular light.”
