Akinola Davies Jr., British-Nigerian director, attended the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in September 2026, where he also served as a member of the jury of the Venezia Opera Prima “Luigi De Laurentiis” award for a debut film, alongside Carolina Cavalli and Ted Hope.
On the red carpet he chose a sharp black suit with a white shirt, a black beanie and dark sunglasses, greeting the photographers with a hand on his heart and a peace sign. His own debut feature, My Father’s Shadow, premiered at Cannes in 2025 and won the 2026 BAFTA for Best Debut.
